JOURNEY INTO FIRE

I hope when the Angel of Death comes calling

I will speak to her like a trusting and intelligent child

and tell her I am ready to be stripped of everything

except of what inside I am becoming

and, unbeguiled, to go with her, singing,

and, in newness, to abide.
